Healthy Child Checkups
Good News, Joy got her 18 month shots and cried only briefly. She's 26.1 lbs (75th percentile) and 35 inches long (off the charts, more than 95th percentile) and her head circumference is 48.5 cm (95th percentile). Not sure what the head circumference is for, but otherwise our darling daughter is going to be tall and skinny if she keeps this up. The doctor thinks she could get up to 5'10" if she continues this trend. So, I may not have shrunk her clothes. She's grown almost 6 inches in the last 6 months.
Bad News: Josh's asthma has really affected his lung capacity. To the point that he has only 20% usage. So the doc put him on three meds for the next two weeks. Singulair (once a day), Advair (twice a day), and Albuterol (4-6x/day). And we have to track him on the flowmeter for 2 weeks. And he'll be on those three until he consistently gets about 250 on the flowmeter.
Yours truly is not the greatest about tracking things like this, but I guess I am going to have to be. My child's health is at stake. Some days I think I really wasn't cut out for this job .....

WHEW! Went Cub Scout shopping today. I hope my son stays a twig for many a moon. I was assured that the shirt would fit him for a few years, most likely the whole time. I am doubtful, but if it fits for two years I'll be happy. Now I get to figure out how to sew/hot glue the badges on. There's a site out there called ScoutStuff that had that required info. I wish we had the $$ to spare to pay the store where I got it from to sew the patches. I also wish even more that I had my own sewing machine and that my mom had taught me to sew.
On a brighter note, congratulations are in order. My son has finished his first ever full-length, no pictures novel. Harry Potter 3: The Prisoner of Azkaban. He figured he could skip books 1 & 2 since he's seen the movies. He started it the weekend before Halloween and the last 3 or 4 days has been reading it non-stop ... to the point of neglecting his dog. I threatened him with taking away the book and not allowing him to read. He took time off of the book and then returned to it as soon as they got back from their walk (20 minutes Tim).
And he's pretty darn excited about scouting. At this very moment he is ironing his shirt in preparation to have the patches attached. Voluntarily ironing. He wants his uniform to look perfect. We might go out fundraising later tonight. What fun, it's *freezing* out there!
