  I Loved You Enough . . .

I Loved You Enough . . .
(Author Unknown)

Some day when my children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a parent, I will tell them:

"I loved you enough . . . to ask where you were going, with whom, and what time you would be home."

"I loved you enough . . . to insist that you save your money and buy a bike for yourself even though we could afford to buy one for you."

"I loved you enough . . . to be silent and let you discover that your new best friend was a creep."

"I loved you enough . . . to make you take a Milky Way back to the drugstore (with a bite out of it) and tell the clerk, 'I stole this yesterday and want to pay for it.'"

"I loved you enough . . . to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your room, a job that would have taken 15 minutes."

"I loved you enough . . . to let you see anger, disappointment and tears in my eyes. Children must learn that their parents aren't perfect."

"I loved you enough . . . to let you assume the responsibility for your actions even when the penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart."

"But most of all, I loved you enough . . . to say 'no,'when I knew you would hate me for it. Those were the most difficult battles of all. I'm glad I won them, because in the end you won, too."

Note to readers, I have the need to write, but some days I just can't think of anything original

You want to sell me what???!!!!!

Yesterday, Tim received two phone calls. Both from solicitors. The one in the morning was from Home Street Bank -- they wanted to offer him a credit card as he was walking out the door to work. The one in the evening was from someone who wanted to sell him "Girls Gone Wild".

Phone rings. I answer, "Sargent residence." There's a recording and then a male operator comes on and asks for Tim. I pass the phone to him. A few minutes later I hear, "Girls Gone Wild? What's that?" I yell, quite forcefully, "He's very happily married, thank you very much!!!" Tim correctly takes that to mean that he should decline the offer. My DH, loving man that he is, had absolutely *no idea* what GGW was. I wouldn't tell him in the prescence of Joy, who is quite the little sponge these days, so he Googled it. Then he also said something along the lines of "uh ... no thanks."

I thought I had put our number on the Do Not Call registry and we are unlisted. ... Tim put our number on the list anyway. Let's see how many more spam calls we get. It's weird that they were only asking for him .....

My, what interesting weather we're having

When Joy came upstairs to tell me that it was time to get up and get dressed, I had every intention on coming downstairs and watching cartoons and working on a blanket for my new niece.

Instead, I have been watching KATU news and it's been nothing but weather. It's now about an hour and a half later, and I think I am starting to get tired of the weather report. In a nutshell, it's cold, with freezing rain, and ice. Fun, fun, fun.

Yes, I'll love with all my heart
From now until death do us part
And I will love her when we're rich
And when we're broke and in a ditch
And when we're fit, and when we're sick
(Oh, CAN'T we get this finished quick?)
And I will love through good and bad
And I will love when glad or sad
And I will have, and I will hold
And if I might now be so bold
I'll love her my entire life
Yes, I WILL take her as my wife!
